TITLE: Approve the Collective Bargaining Agreement Between the City of North Port and the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees, Local 3432, (AFSCME).
Recommended Action
Approve the Collective Bargaining Agreement Between the City of North Port and the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees, Local 3432, (AFSCME).
Background Information
The City and representatives of the AFSCME, met for several sessions since September 10, 2024, to exchange proposals and negotiate terms of a successor Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for the period of October 1, 2024, to September 30, 2027. The City was notified on December 19, 2024, that the membership ratified the CBA through a vote of 98 "yes," 1 "no," and 1 "void."
Some highlights of the tentatively agreed CBA are as follows:
> Article 26 - Hours of Work and Overtime - Added one and one-half (1 1/2) hours pay to Section 7a for on-call differential pay.
> Article 32 - Wages - Added the following wage increase language:
> Fiscal Year 2024-2025: Effective October 1, 2024, the base hourly wage of all bargaining unit members shall be adjusted by 2.5% for a cost-of-living adjustment plus a 3% market adjustment. The paygrades of all bargaining unit members shall also be adjusted by 2.5%. Bargaining unit members at the maximum of their paygrade shall receive the adjustments in a lump sum payment. Upon attaining a proficient or higher rating on their evaluation date, the employee will have their salary adjusted another 2%.
