Recommended Action on Second Reading

Adopt Resolution No. 2022-R-19.

Background Information

Currently the City of North Port has one Project Manager to oversee all Capital Improvement Projects. The volume and complexity of these CIP projects has significantly increased over the last several years. The complexity of these CIP projects requires thorough knowledge of each project scope, contract, budget, timelines and attention to construction detail. This is not possible when a Project Manager's workload becomes too heavy. Adding an additional Project Manager position will help to reduce the workload to a level that will allow for better oversight in the following areas of responsibility:

* Development and evaluation of Request for Proposals, projects and scope of work
* Working with internal departments during procurement process
* Maintaining departmental expectations
* Proper project budget oversight
* Contract administration and oversight
* Construction management and quality control
* Maintaining timeline
* Building space needs evaluations and solution

The anticipated hire date is July 1, 2022. The cost for salary and benefits for this position for Fiscal Year 2022-2023 will be $98,411.

Resolution No. 2022-R-19 has been reviewed by the City Attorney and is legally correct as to form.
