TITLE: Approve Utility Easement Agreement with West Villages Improvement District Related to the Spring Training Facility
Recommended Action
Approve Utility Easement Agreement with West Villages Improvement District Related to the Spring Training Facility
Background Information
The West Villages Improvement District (WVID) currently owns the real property on which the spring training stadium is located. Pursuant to the contracts related to the spring training facility, WVID is to convey the real property and improvements to Sarasota County. That conveyance is planned to take place on or before January 31, 2020.
The Utility Easement Agreement grants the City utility easements over the City-owned facilities and lift station on the property. These easements allow the City to access the property for inspection, maintenance, and repair of the City-owned facilities.
This agreement will be filed in the county land records and will run with the land, so that the City will retain these rights when the property is conveyed to any future owner, including the County. While the County is not a signatory to the agreement, the County Attorney’s Office and County staff provided input and review of the agreement.
