Background Information

During the City Commission Regular Meeting held on June 23, 2026, the City Commission approved Resolution No. 2026-R-27, authorizing the expenditure of Florida Contraband Forfeiture Funds in accordance with Section 932.7055, Florida Statutes.

Section 2.03 of Resolution No. 2026-R-27 states:

"The City Commission for the City of North Port, Florida authorizes the expenditure of Fifty-Five Thousand Dollars {$55,000.00} from the forfeiture fund for the purpose of supporting community based crime prevention initiatives, safe neighborhood programs, youth substance-abuse prevention and education programs, and operational equipment (including law enforcement Ebikes) as outlined in the attached Exhibit " A."

In accordance with the provisions of Section 2.03 of Resolution No. 2026-R-27, the North Port Police Department allocated forfeiture funds to support local organizations and programs that promote crime prevention, safe neighborhoods, drug abuse education, and prevention.

The Police Department will present donation checks to the following organizations during the ceremonial presentation of the City Commission Regular Meeting on September 3, 2026:
