TITLE: An Ordinance of the City of North Port, Florida, Adopting the Ad Valorem Millage Rate and Rolled-Back Rate for the Fiscal Year Beginning October 1, 2026, and Ending September 30, 2027; Providing for Findings; Providing for Conflicts; Providing for Severability; and Providing an Effective Date.


Recommended Action for First Reading

Option 1: Approve Ordinance No. 2026-28 on first reading as presented and move to second reading on September 24, 2026.

Recommended Action for Second Reading

Option 1: Adopt Ordinance No. 2026-28 as presented.

City Commission Options for First Reading

Option 1: Approve Ordinance No. 2026-28 on first reading as presented and move to second reading on September 24, 2026.

Pros: This will adopt the millage rate on which the Non-District Budget was balanced bringing in $41,697,547 in ad valorem tax revenue.
Cons: The City Commission may wish to lower the millage rate and amend the budget.

Option 2: Amend Ordinance No. 2026-28 with a lower millage rate.

Pros: The property tax rate for residents will be reduced from what was included in the City Manager's Proposed Budget.
Cons: The Non-District Budget will need to be amended for this reduction in ad valorem tax revenue.
