Recommended Action

 

Approve acceptance of grant, if awarded, from the Florida Department of Environment Protection Resilience Planning Grant in an amount of $25,000, and to authorize the City Manager to approve to sign grant documents upon satisfactory legal review.

 

Background Information

 

The Department of Environmental Protection recently announced a grant program to provide financial assistance to local communities to assist Florida coastal communities to plan for sea level rise, social vulnerability, and protection of historic resources.  If awarded, $25,000 will be used to hire a consultant to rewrite the Coast Management Element of the Comprehensive Plan to address these areas.

 

The application deadline was October 7, 2019. The application was submitted on October 2, 2019.  If awarded, grant funds will be available July 1, 2020.  The City Attorney will review the contract for legal form.
