TO: Honorable Mayor & Members of the North Port Commission
FROM: Jonathan R. Lewis, ICMA-CM, City Manager
TITLE: Adopt-A-Park Program Agreement for Marina Park
Recommended Action
Approve Adopt-A-Park Agreement between the City of North Port and U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 9-2.
Background Information
The Adopt-A-Park Program was approved by the City Commission on July 14, 2003 and was established to provide an avenue for individuals, groups and/or businesses to support the City's maintenance efforts and upkeep of the park system. Currently, six parks have active Adopt-A-Park Agreements.
Mark Yates, representative for the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 9-2, desires to enter into an agreement with the City of North Port to adopt Marina Park as part of the Adopt-A-Park Program and intends to provide general clean-up and monitoring of the park. It should be noted that items showing strike-through under item I-B of the Adopt-A-Park Agreement have been specifically excluded. The Parks & Recreation Advisory Board reviewed this request at the October 20, 2016 regular meeting and approved presenting the Adopt a Park Agreement to City Commission for approval.
As part of the program, the Parks and Recreation Division and the Property Maintenance Division will provide tools and materials as applicable to help support quarterly clean-up activities during the term of the agreement. A sign recognizing the Adopt-A-Park organization will be ordered and posted on site once the first Adopt-A-Park activity has been completed.
