Background Information

From October 01, 2018 - September 30, 2019 the City of North Port’s fifty (50) volunteers worked a combined total of 10,701.45 hours for various departments throughout the City.  At the national volunteer rate of $25.43 per hour, City volunteers contributed a total of $272,137.87 to North Port.  The millage rate needed to offset this donation of time by our volunteers would be 0.0590.

According to Independent Sector’s annual value of volunteer time study, the value of a volunteer’s time hit an all-time high during 2018 at $25.43 an hour, up 3 percent from 2017.  The hourly rate is based on averages of earnings provided by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and adjusted to estimate for fringe benefits.
