Recommended Action

Accept the grant award from Wal-Mart / Sam’s Club stores in the amount of $2,000.

Background Information

Wal-Mart / Sam’s Club stores offer Community Grants to recognized government entities including state, county, or city agency, to include law enforcement in amounts ranging from $250 - $2,500.  The grant is available annually at the beginning of each calendar year. The process is to fill out an application form and take it directly to the store closest to your entity.  The Police Department submitted a request for this grant in an attempt to receive funding for two very successful community programs, Shop with a Cop and Operation Santa Surprise.  Fortunately, the Police Department was awarded and received a Community Grant from Wal-Mart in the amount of $2,000 to be evenly distributed to the above mentioned programs.
