Approve Construction Contract No. 2023-15 - Water Distribution System Improvements with Go Underground Utilities, LLC in the amount of $362,573.00, with a contingency of $36,257.00, for a total amount of $398,830.00.
Background Information
As part of an ongoing program to improve potable water distribution system reliability, fire flow, water quality, and pressure as well as reduce the amount of flushing necessary to maintain water quality in the focus areas, Utilities is installing new watermains to loop the remaining dead-end lines throughout the city. In this phase of this program, dead-ends water lines on Libby Rd, Tripoli St and Morandi Ave will be eliminated. The following provides a chronological order of events regarding the competitive sealed bid process for this project:
> September 23, 2022: RFB No. 2023-15 - Water Distribution System Improvements was advertised.
> November 8, 2022: Four bids were received and opened.
> Staff reviewed the bids and the lowest, responsive bidder, Go Underground Utilities, LLC was determined to be qualified by the Project Engineer of Record, CHA Consulting, Inc.
> December 14, 2022: Notice of Intent to Award RFB No. 2023-15 to Go Underground Utilities was issued.
Based on the above, staff recommends the Award of Contract No. 2023-15 to Go Underground Utilities, LLC
Construction Contract No. 2023-15 has been reviewed by the City Attorney and is legally correct as to form.
