TITLE: Approve an Aquatic Examiner Service Agreement with the American National Red Cross for a Twelve Month Term.

Recommended Action

Approve the Aquatic Examiner Service Agreement with the American National Red Cross for a twelve-month term.

Background Information

On November 26, 2019, the City Commission approved a thirty-six-month agreement with the American National Red Cross (ANRC) to allow staff at the North Port Aquatic Center to utilize the water safety training and certification curriculum developed by ANRC to guide the delivery of swim lessons, lifeguarding courses, and first aid classes to the public.

To complement the existing training program and further support a safe environment at the North Port Aquatic Center, staff is recommending the implementation of the ANRC lifeguard assessment and evaluation program. The proposed Aquatic Examiner Service Agreement provides one (1) Lifeguard Operations Assessment and three (3) On-Site Lifeguard Observation and Evaluation Audits, for an annual total of expense of $3,465. Through this agreement, certified representatives from ANRC will arrive onsite, unannounced, to provide a comprehensive and objective review the facility's Emergency Action Plan, operational procedures, lifeguard staffing, training levels and will evaluate simulated emergency response times and techniques.
