TITLE: Ratification of Emergency Order No. 2020-17 Relating to Temporary Business Signs in the Commercial General, Light Industrial and Warehousing, and Neighborhood Commercial Districts, Emergency Order No. 2020-18 Relating to the Temporary Suspension of Water and Wastewater Late Payment Fees and Shutoffs, Emergency Order No. 2020-19 Relating to the Conduct of Public Meeting by Communications Media Technology, Emergency Order No. 2020-20 Relating to the Temporary Suspension of Time Limitations for Living or Camping in Vehicles Parked on Residential Lots, Emergency Order No.2020-21 Relating to Temporary Outdoor Dining Regulations and Suspension of Certain Fees for Restaurants, and Emergency Order No. 2020-22 Authorizing Additional Methods of Providing Public Comment in Public Meetings.
Recommended Action
Ratification of Emergency Order Numbers 2020-17, 2020-18, 2020-19, 2020-20, 2020-21, and 2020-22.
Background Information
On March 9, 2020, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis issued Executive Order Number 20-52, declaring that a state of emergency exists in every county in the State of Florida due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Subsequently on March 17, 2020, the North Port City Commission adopted Ordinance No. 2020-18 declaring a local state of emergency due to COVID-19, granting emergency authority to the City Manager to issue Emergency Orders to ensure the safe conduct of necessary operations of the North Port City Government. On September 8, 2020, Ordinance No. 2020-18 expired and on September 9, 2020 the North Port City Commission adopted Ordinance No. 2020-38 once again granting emergency authority to the City Manager.
