Recommended Action
Police Department presentation of checks to local organizations receiving a donation of forfeiture funds.
Background Information
Florida Statutes Section 932.7055(5)(c)3 provides that any law enforcement agency that acquires at least fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000.00) pursuant to the Florida Contraband Forfeiture Act within a fiscal year must expend or donate no less than twenty-five percent (25%) of the proceeds for the support or operation of any drug treatment, drug abuse education, drug prevention, crime prevention, safe neighborhood, or school resource officer program or programs. The local law enforcement agency has the discretion to determine which program or programs will receive the designated proceeds.
To meet the statutory requirements the Police Department is donating funds to the following organizations.
