TITLE: Approve Permit for Use of Real Property by a Federal Agency for One Position Within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to Utilize Office Space at City Hall.
Recommended Action
Approve Permit for use of real property by a Federal Agency for one position within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to utilize office space at City Hall.
Background Information
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) contacted the City of North Port to inquire if the City could accommodate an HHS staff member within the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR) for co-location and collaboration within a local government setting on joint operational needs related to national preparedness, response, and recovery operations.
The purpose of the Permit for use of real property by a Federal Agency for one position within HHS is for the City to provide the designated HHS staff member with a location to perform daily tasks related to federal emergency response within a local government setting.
Staff was able to identify office space within City Hall that could be turned into a workspace area for the HHS staff member outfitted with a desk and chair. The HHS staff member will be provided access to a network to allow the staff member to utilize HHS's secure Virtual Private Network (VPN). HHS will provide all other equipment needed.
The Permit for Use of Real Property by a Federal Agency for One Position Within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to Utilize Office Space at City Hall has been reviewed by the Interim City Attorney and is legally correct as to form.
