Background Information

The City of North Port is a member of the ManaSota league of Cities (MSLC), which is a regional league of the Florida League of Cities and is comprised of nine municipalities within Manatee and Sarasota Counties.  MSLC meets every two months and is dedicated to providing a strong, united and active advocacy program with a focus of promoting interests of municipalities within Manatee and Sarasota Counties.  Matters relating to preservation of Home Rule is of high priority.

Each year the MSLC establishes its legislative priorities for the legislative session (attached is MSLC 2016 priorities).  Through communication of legislative concerns from each member jurisdiction, those of common interest can be identified and considered during the process of prioritizing MSLC advocacy efforts.  As preparations begin for the next legislative session, the MSLC is seeking any suggested topics of interest from its members.  The next MSLC meeting takes place on March 10, 2016.
