TITLE: Approve the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) National Vehicle Lease, Vehicle Use Agreement - NON-FBI Task Force Officer, Authorizing a Selected Officer of the North Port Police Department to be Provided a Leased Vehicle by the Federal Bureau of Investigations, at no Cost to the City, for Use With Assignments as a Task Force Officer to the FBI.


Recommended Action

Approve the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Vehicle Lease, Vehicle Use Agreement - NON-FBI Task Force Officer, authorizing a selected member of the North Port Police Department to be provided a leased vehicle by the Federal Bureau of Investigations, at no cost to the City, for use with assignments as a Task Force Officer to the FBI.

Background Information

For the past three years, the City has been participating in an agreement with the FBI and has had a North Port Police Department officer assigned to the FBI Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force. Under the existing agreement, the FBI may provide a vehicle to the Task Force Member in connection to the assignment to be used for official purposes related to performance of the officer's duties assigned under the Task Force. The FBI National Vehicle Lease, Vehicle Use Agreement - Non-FBI Task Force Officer Agreement must be executed in order for the City to obtain a vehicle for its Task Force Officer.

Per the Agreement, the Task Force Officer (Operator) agrees to return the FBI's issued vehicle in the same condition as it was received, except normal wear and tear. The Operator and/or agency could be held accountable for damages. Upon cessation of the Operator's assignment, the vehicle will be immediately returned to the FBI.
