Recommended Action

Approve the State-Funded Grant Agreement - Urban Search and Rescue Grant (Agreement Number: T0283) for reimbursement of up to $12,000.00 for costs associated with maintenance, replacement, and enhancement of urban search and rescue equipment, between the State of Florida, Division of Emergency Management and the City of North Port, and authorize the City Manager or Mayor, as applicable under the City Charter, to execute all funding documents after legal review.

Background Information

The intent of this Grant is to sustain the Statewide Urban Search and Rescue (US&R) capabilities to prepare for and respond to disasters throughout the State of Florida by providing funding in support of the eight (8) Florida Urban Search & Rescue and thirty-nine (39) Light Technical Rescue Teams. Funding for this purpose was appropriated by the Florida Legislature.

Fire Rescue will use the award amount to reimburse expenditures in one spending category: Sustainment. Sustainment consists of maintenance of specialized equipment, plus replacement and enhancement of equipment and personal protective items listed in Attachment J of the Agreement.

The Agreement has been reviewed by the City Attorney as to form and correctness.
