Approve Amendment No. 1 to Agreement No. 2019-41, Professional Engineering Services for Water Transmission Main on San Mateo Drive from Price Blvd. to Hillsborough Blvd. with Kimley Horn & Associates, Inc, for the amount of $46,906.20.

Background Information

On May 14, 2019, Commission approved Agreement No. 2019-41 with Kimley Horn & Associates, Inc for professional engineering services for the San Mateo Drive Water Transmission Main Project. Task No. 1 of the Scope of Services included a water age analysis, based on the calibrated water hydraulic model, in order to establish the existing water age of the system as well as identify the appropriate pipe sizing for the San Mateo Water Transmission Project and verify potential impacts to water age.

Due to a recent software conversion, the existing water hydraulic model has become confusing and inoperable. Furthermore, because it is based on an outdated system and flow data from 2014, the existing model is not reflective of the current water system. In order to size the San Mateo water mains appropriately and verify impacts to water age, updating the hydraulic model is essential.

As part of Amendment No. 1 Scope of Services, the Consultant will update the current water hydraulic model, including revising demand data and creating a more accurate representation of system and facility upgrades, in order to verify appropriate pipe sizing and the impacts to water age for the San Mateo project.
