Background Information
Every year during the second week of April, Telecommunications Personnel in the public safety profession are honored. This week-long event is a time to celebrate and thank those who dedicate their lives to serving the public. It is a week that should be set aside so everyone can be made aware of their hard work and dedication.
On occasion, police dispatchers are taken for granted, unless, of course, you have reason to call for help. At that very moment, the dispatcher becomes the most important person in the world, and your lifeline to safety and help. Our Telecommunication Operators are the unsung "out of sight" link between the public and the police department. They are the safety net for the police officers.
The police dispatch center requires personnel that are capable of remaining calm, cool, and collected during emergency situations. The sacrifices our Telecommunication Operators make create a better and safer world for the public. They have dedicated themselves to being a highly trained and dedicated group of men and women who put others ahead of themselves. The police officers and citizens of the City of North Port appreciate and recognize the commitment and professionalism of the North Port Police Department Telecommunication Personnel. National Public Safety Telecommunications Week is April 14 - 20, 2019.
Telecommunications Manager Misty Elmore will be accepting the Proclamation on behalf of our Telecommunications Section.
