TITLE:                     Discussion and Possible Action to Direct the City Manager to Send a Letter of Support to the Sarasota County Board of Commissioners Regarding the Allocation of Hurricane Recovery Funds for the Suncoast Technical College (Requested by Commissioner Duval).

Recommended Action

Direct the City Manager to send a letter of support to the Sarasota County Board of Commissioners regarding the allocation of Hurricane Recovery funds for the Suncoast Technical College.

Background Information

Recently, there was an editorial in the Daily Sun regarding which entity will receive 7.5 million in Hurricane Recovery funds.  During the Sarasota County Board of County Commissioners Meeting on April 22, 2025, the Commissioners will review and determine the project allocation for the Hurricane Recovery funds. Suncoast Technical College has applied for these Hurricane Recovery Funds. Commissioner Duval would like the City Commission to discuss what they can do, such as sending a letter supporting their view to the Sarasota County Commissioners.
