Approve Contract No. 2020-34 for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Garden of the Five Senses Walking Trail to Jon F. Swift, Inc. in the amount of $191,221, plus a construction contingency of $19,122 for a total of $210,343.
Background Information
At the January 22, 2019 Commission meeting, Commission accepted the Community Development Block Grant Subrecipient Agreement with Sarasota County for park enhancements at the Garden of the Five Senses Park. The subrecipient agreement funded $350,000 to be utilized for ADA compliant enhancements including a new flexi-pave trail through the adjacent wooded area and improved access within the existing parking lot and restroom building through the installation of curb cuts, additional ADA parking spaces, and automatic doors.
Request for Bid (RFB) No. 2020-34 was opened on February 21, 2020. Two (2) submittals were received from Jon F. Swift, Inc. and A2 Group, Inc. Jon F. Swift, Inc. was the lowest responsive and responsible bidder.
This Contract has been reviewed and approved by the City Attorney as to form and correctness.

Financial Impact
Grant funding, less design expenditures of $56,873, in the amount of $293,127 is available in project #P19BPG, account # 001-3036-572-6300. This is a reimbursement grant and total reimbursement for this grant will not exceed $350,000. Funding must be used for design and construction services as defined in the Sub-Recipient Agreement.
