TITLE: Ordinance No. 2021-12 Designating the City Seal and Repealing Section 2-4 - City Seal, of the Code of the City of North Port, Florida
Recommended Action
Second Reading: Approve and adopt Ordinance No. 2021-12 as presented.
Continue Ordinance No. 2021-12 to second reading on January 26, 2021.
Background Information
On September 24, 2019 Commission gave direction to bring back information or a Resolution giving procedures and policy for the use of the City Seal. This policy will be brought back via Resolution at second reading of the attached Ordinance.
Florida Statutes Section 165.043 permits municipalities to designate an official municipal seal. There is no requirement that the official seal be codified, only that the designation be by Ordinance. This ordinance meets the legal requirement to designate the official seal by Ordinance.
On January 12, 2021 Commission did not recommend any changes prior to second reading.
