TITLE:                     Discussion and Possible Action Regarding Personal Banners Affixed to City Infrastructure to Honor Local Military Service Members.

Recommended Action

To be determined by the City Commission.

Background Information

A citizen approached Commissioner McDowell to inquire if the City of North Port was interested in participating in a banner program to honor past and active-duty military service members.  Each City has a different length of time the banners are displayed. Most of them are displayed in October and November to honor Veteran’s Day on November 11th each year.  The primary criteria for the person being honored would be that they have ties to the City of North Port.

A policy would need to be created, possibly with the assistance of our Veteran’s Advisory Board.

Strategic Plan

Good Governance

Financial Impact

Ø                     The requestor would incur the cost of banner.

Ø                     Staff labor to install banners on City infrastructure, at designated locations.

Procurement

Not applicable.
