TITLE: Approve the First Amendment to Contract No. 2023-34 with Jay's Fencing LLC., on an As-Needed Basis; and Approve the First Amendment to Work Assignment No. 1, for an Additional Amount of $3,600.00, for a Total of $91,998.00

Recommended Action

Approve the First Amendment to Contract No. 2023-34 with Jay's Fencing LLC., on an as-needed basis; and approve the First Amendment to Work Assignment No. 1, for an additional amount of $3,600.00, for a total of $91,998.00.

Background Information

Hurricane Ian damaged several areas of fencing within the utility system that are in need of repair and/or replacement. The Department of Utilities solicited a Continuing Contract Request for Bids for Fencing, which has a contract term of three (3) years with three (3) additional one-year renewals based upon mutual agreement. Contract No. 2023-34 for Fence Repair and New Installation, as well as Work Assignment #1, were approved on January 9, 2024.

During the pre-construction meeting with the Contractor, North Port Utilities and Rostan, it was noted that the standard lift station specification, section 336020, has been updated since the original installation of the fences and gates. The standard lift station specification was originally solicited with double six (6) foot swing gates and the specification now calls for double eight (8) foot swing gates. Rostan advised that FEMA would cover the costs of the gate change due to it meeting the current standards. Amendment No. 1 to Contract 2023-34 will add a line item to include the cost of the eight (8) foot swing gates.
The Amendment has been reviewed by the City Attorney and is approved as to form and correctness.
