Background Information
Each year during the budget development process, Utilities conducts a comprehensive review of all expenditures to identify opportunities for cost efficiencies and reductions. When potential savings involve changes to level of service, those options are formally presented through the Budget Proposal process for Commission consideration.
While modifying level of service within a water and wastewater utility is inherently challenging due to regulatory and operational requirements, two potential options have been identified for evaluation. These include adjusting chemical treatment to regulatory minimum standards and modifying system water pressure. A presentation will be provided to outline the anticipated cost savings alongside the corresponding impacts to service levels, to support discussion and provide a clear understanding of the potential trade-offs.
