Recommended Action

Appointment of Norbert Schneider as a Regular Member to the Planning and Zoning Advisory Board, to serve a four-year term from February 25, 2020 to February 25, 2024.

Background Information

There is currently one (1) vacancy for a Regular Member on the Planning and Zoning Advisory Board, and two Alternate member vacancies. The vacancies have been announced as required. The City Clerk has received one (1) application from Norbert Schneider for the Regular Member position and there have been no other applications submitted. Mr. Schneider served on the Planning and Zoning Advisory Board from February 14, 2011 to February 23, 2019 and has met the requirement to wait one year before requesting reappointment to the same Board. Since tracking "unavailability to attend" began in June 2019, Mr. Schneider attended the only two scheduled meetings that were scheduled prior to his term ending. His attendance previous to 2019 on the Planning and Zoning Advisory Board was excellent and none of his absences had a negative affect the quorum requirements to hold the meeting.

Mr. Schneider also served on the Public Utility Advisory Board from March 5, 2019 to February 3, 2020 and he resigned to reapply on the Planning and Zoning Advisory Board. While on the Public Utility Advisory Board he missed three of nine meetings which no effect on the quorum requirements to hold the meeting.

Mr. Schneider has only served on the Planning and Zoning Advisory Board and the Public Utility Advisory Board. He has been a resident of North Port for 18 years and does not presently serve on any other Boards or Committees. His application has been provided for review and consideration.
