TITLE:                     Discussion and Possible Action Regarding Revision to City Fee Schedule for the Inclusion of a Fifty Percent Discount to the Rental Fee for the Road & Drainage District Property at 5601 S. Sumter Boulevard for Farmer/Family Markets

Recommended Action

Discussion and possible action regarding the addition of a fifty percent discount to the City Fee Schedule for the rental of Road & Drainage District Property on Sumter Boulevard for farmer/family markets.

Background Information

The Road & Drainage District owns a parcel of property at 5601 S. Sumter Boulevard which is rented out for various events throughout the year.  On February 23, 2021, the North Port City Commission adopted Ordinance No. 2020-27 which amended the City Fee Schedule and established a property rental fee of $30.00 per hour for this property in Section K of the schedule.

Section K. of the City Fee Schedule as amended provides a fifty percent discount for non-profit organizations with proof of a 501(c)(3) status and the Achieve Anything membership discount does not apply.  Mayor Luke is requesting a discussion to possibly add language creating a fifty percent discount for “farmer/family markets” for the rental of this particular property.
