Background Information

The Department of Public Works has been utilizing Zonar Systems, Inc. since 2009 for Global Positions System (GPS) and Electronic Vehicle Inspection Remote (EVIR) communications and reporting systems for the Solid Waste Division and Operations and Maintenance Division vehicles and equipment. The Facilities Maintenance Division of the Public Works Department, Parks and Recreation Department, and the Utilities Department began utilizing Zonar within the past year for GPS tracking and monitoring of vehicles. The City currently has 215 vehicles and equipment using the Zonar service. The Public Works Fleet Management Division will work with individual City Departments to standardize and install Zonar equipment and devices in their departmental vehicles and equipment when necessary.
