TITLE:                     A Resolution of the City Commission of the City of North Port, Florida, Providing Its Determination to Forego the Annual Increase in City Commissioner Salary for Fiscal Year 2020-2021; Providing for Conflicts; Providing for Severability; and Providing an Effective Date.

 

 

 

Recommended Action

 

Adopt Resolution 2020-R-29 of the City Commission of the City of North Port, Florida, providing its determination to forego the annual increase in City Commissioner salary for Fiscal Year 2020-2021.

 

Background Information

 

Section 2-23 of the Code of the City of North Port, Florida provides that each City Commissioner receives a salary pursuant to a codified formula, based in part on population.  Section 2-23 further provides that the salary be recalculated annually to take effect on October 1, and that the City Commission may forego an annual increase by supermajority vote.

 

At its August 17, 2020 meeting, the City Commission directed that a resolution be prepared to forego its annual salary increase.
