TITLE:                     Discussion and Possible Action Regarding the Conduct of Public Meetings of City boards in Person and by Virtual Means

Recommended Action

Discussion and possible action regarding conducting public meetings of City Boards in person and virtually.

Background Information

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Governor issued Executive Order 20-179 which suspended any Florida Statute requiring a quorum to be present in person or in a public place and allowed government bodies to use communications media technology for the conduct of public meetings.  This order expired November 1, 2020.

In light of the current and ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Mayor Luke has requested a discussion on the possibility of holding meetings that would follow the allowances of the City Charter and policies, and would allow official meetings to be held with a quorum of board members being physically present with the remainder of the body being present virtually.
