TITLE: Approve the Release and Indemnification Agreement Regarding Use of the Sheriff's Facilities and/or Equipment between the City of North Port and the Sheriff of Hillsborough County.
Recommended Action
Approve the Release and Indemnification Agreement Regarding Use of the Sheriff's Facilities and/or Equipment between the City of North Port and the Sheriff of Hillsborough County.
Background Information
In 2016 the City of North Port executed the License and Hold Harmless Agreement for Use of Training Facility between the City of North Port and the Sheriff of Hillsborough County. The proposed agreement is a revised renewal of that agreement, requested by the new Sheriff of Hillsborough County, that encompasses other sites and equipment belonging to the Sheriff.
The Hillsborough County training facility provides enhanced training structures to best serve the training needs of the Department. If approved, this agreement allows officers to occupy and use the facility known as the Walter C. Heinrich Practical Training Site, located at 14063 County Road 39 South, Lithia, Florida for firearms training and other related activities during such days and dates as is mutually agreeable to both entities. This agreement will also cover the use of other sites and equipment if needed.
Fees for use of the facilities are outlined in the applicable "Charge Schedule". The amounts are hourly and does not matter how many officers are in attendance at any given time. If approved, this Agreement shall remain in full force and effect until terminated by any party and may be terminated upon giving written notice to the other party.
The agreement has been reviewed and approved by the City Attorney as to legal form.
