Option 1: Approve Work Assignment No. 2026-06 with CDM Smith, Inc., for Mechanical Integrity Testing of North Port Deep Injection Wells IW-1 & IW-2 in the amount of $246,971.41.

Additional Commission Options

Option 1: Approve Work Assignment No. 2026-06 with CDM Smith, Inc., for Mechanical Integrity Testing of North Port Deep Injection Wells IW-1 & IW-2 in the amount of $246,971.41.

* Pros: Underground Injection Control (UIC) Permit Number 0131285-015-016-UO/1X for IW-1 and IW-2 require that Mechanical Integrity Testing (MIT) be performed every five years. The current MITs for both wells are due to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) by January 20, 2027.
* Cons: Commits utility funds to this project, which could be used on other projects.

Background Information

North Port Utilities (NPU) owns and operates an injection well system at the municipal wastewater treatment plant that provides up to 7.0 million gallons per day of treated effluent disposal. The system consists of two Class I underground injection wells, designated IW-1 and IW-2, a dual zone monitor well (DZMW-1), and a regional monitor well (RMW).
