Recommended Action
Discussion and possible action regarding the Memorandum dated March 22, 2022 from the Community Economic Development Advisory Board regarding Board composition and term lengths.
Background Information
At its regular meeting, the Community Economic Development Advisory Board discussed the composition and term lengths of Board members and approved the following recommendations:
• Recommend changing the terms for CEDAB members from two years to three years and the
ability to renew for another three-year term.
• Recommend changing the CEDAB membership language to say, "no more than 11 members",
changing l(a) from Financial Services to FinTech, changing section 2 to add targeted industries
such as Aviation and Aerospace, Corporate HQ, IT/Creative Industries, BioLife Sciences, Logistics& Distribution, and Mixed-Use, and to add another ex-officio member that is a monthly rotating City of North Port Commissioner.
The recommendations resulted from conversation on how to increase membership and improve efficacy of the Board, as well as engage leaders in targeted industries.
Commissioner Luke has requested that this be brought to Commission for discussion.
