Recommended Action

Approve the Second Amendment to the Lease Agreement between the City of North Port and the Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County for space at the Family Service Center.

Background Information

The Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County, through the federally funded Women, Infant, and Children (WIC) program, provides services to North Port residents at the Family Service Center. This program provides healthy foods, nutrition education, referrals for healthcare and community services, breastfeeding support, and counseling at no charge to clients.

The lease amount of $1,194.63 per month is unchanged from the previous Lease Agreement. The First Amendment to the Lease Agreement will expire on August 31, 2025. A Second Amendment has been made extending the terms of the previous Lease Agreement by one year, expiring on August 31, 2026. Once a City-wide standardized Lease Policy takes effect, the Lease Agreement will need to come back to Commission for approval under the new terms.

The Second Amendment to the Florida Department of Health Lease Agreement has been reviewed by the Interim City Attorney and is legally correct as to form.
