TITLE: Municipal Election Agreement for August 18, 2020 City of North Port Primary and November 3, 2020 City of North Port General Election between the City of North Port and the Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections.
Recommended Action
Approve the Municipal Election Agreement for August 18, 2020 City of North Port Primary and November 3, 2020 City of North Port General Election.
Background Information
Every Election the City enters into an Agreement with the Supervisor of Elections for the upcoming primary and General Election. The Agreement has been reviewed by the City Attorney’s Office and the following business points have been noted.
1. The City must review and approve the municipal portion of the ballot layout no later than 24-hours after the City receives it from the Supervisor of Elections.
2. Vote-By-Mail Ballots - The vote-by-mail ballots will be mailed by the Supervisor of Elections; however, the City will be responsible for its share of any additional printing or mailing costs incurred as a result of a multi-page ballot.
The City Clerk’s Office has received a quote in the amount of $25,500 from the Supervisor of Elections for estimated cost that may be associated with the election and has submitted that amount for approval in the 2020-2021 Budget.
The Municipal Election Agreement has been reviewed by the City Attorney and approved as to form and correctness.
