TITLE: Amendment to Florida Department of Environmental Protection Agreement No. LP58022 (General Appropriations Act)
Recommended Action
Approve Amendment to Florida Department of Environmental Protection Agreement No. LP58022
(General Appropriations Act)
Background Information
Utilities was awarded $272,000 to upgrade and repair 13 lift stations throughout the City. Commission approved Utilities acceptance of the General Appropriations Act (GAA) water project funding application and acceptance of award on July 23, 2015.
Utilities is requesting an amendment to the original agreement which had a construction completion date of June 30, 2018. The amendment would change the construction completion date to December 31, 2018. The change in completion date is necessary to complete the construction on time and receive the grant funding.
The extension requested is necessary for a few reasons. The original contract has a start date of July 1, 2016, however, the agreement was not fully executed until September 23, 2016. Second, The City's in-house engineer left employment with the City in July 2016, which set the process of securing one of the engineering firms from our library back. Third, the City is also completing a hydraulic model of the City's wastewater collection system and one of the pump stations pump design was delayed until the hydraulic model had advanced enough to select the correct pump. The final design and specifications were received from the engineering firm on October 31, 2017. The documents have a 180-day construction period. The construction completion date would be hard to achieve without the amendment.
