TITLE: Ordinance No. 2016-04, second reading, Conduct of Meetings of the North Port City Commission.
Recommended Action
Adopt Ordinance No. 2016-04, or continue to a third hearing.
Background Information
Ordinance 2016-04 updates and provides written procedures for City Commission meetings.
This matter has been previously reviewed and discussed 7/31/2015, 10/27/2015, 12/1/2015, 2/9/2016; agenda items 14-1148, 14-1317, 14-1411, and 16-0061respectively.
After the first public hearing the intent of the city commission for the following sections was relatively clear:
• 2-54 (c) Special meetings;
• 2-55 (a) Agenda
• 2-55 (j)
• 2-55 (k)
• 2-62 (a) (2) (b)
The sections were rewritten. The changes are shown on the document titled Ordinance 2016-04 Redlined Changes since 1st Reading. This document illustrates all of the changes made to the ordinance since the 2/9/2016 hearing.
Three (3) sections need additional input from the commission:
• 2-54 (c) Special meetings;
• 2-54 (e) Workshop meetings
• 2-54 (f) 6.
Alternative provisions are [bracketed] in the ordinance. The commission may choose one of the bracketed provisions or create its own. A clean version of the ordinance with just the above three (3) sections redlined is shown on the document tilted Ordinance 2016-04 Clean Except for 3 Sections
