Title: Approve the Enterprise Physical Damage Waiver
Attachments: 1. Enterprise Physical Damage Proposal

TO:                                           Honorable Mayor & Members of the North Port Commission

FROM:                       Peter D. Lear, CPA, CGMA, City Manager

TITLE:                     Approve the Enterprise Physical Damage Waiver

Recommended Action

Approve the Enterprise Physical Damage Waiver pertaining to lease vehicles.

Background Information

When the City of North Port entered into a lease agreement with Enterprise FM Trust the City obtained the Physical Damage Coverage offered through Enterprise. This coverage was recommended by the City’s Risk Department. It is an inexpensive way to waive responsibility for damage to, or loss of, leased vehicles.

The waiver releases the City from financial responsibility for damage or loss resulting from fire, lightning, explosion, theft, windstorm, hail, earthquake, flood, mischief/vandalism, striking an animal or object, collisions, and overturns of vehicle.

Enterprise completed a review of the commercial auto physical damage protection and is holding the price of the coverage at the rate the City currently pays.

Charges for the Physical Damage Management Program are conveniently billed on a per vehicle basis through the monthly invoice from Enterprise Fleet Management. The waiver included in the proposal is being requested by Enterprise and will hold the rate for the next year.

The City Attorney has approved the Physical Damage Waiver as to form and correctness.

Strategic Plan

Maintain the adopted level of health and public safety services

Financial Impact

Physical Damage Waiver Protection is $32.00 per vehicle per month. This is covered by the budgeted amount for leased vehicles in account 001-2100-521-44-00.

Procurement

The Police Department has a current purchase order with Enterprise that covers the payment for this protection. This waiver is requested to continue the coverage at the current rate.
