Recommended Action

Approve Amendment No. 1 to Work Assignment No. 2023-09PW for the Continuing Services Contract No. 2023-16.03 with Plunkett Raysich Architects, LLP in the amount of $34,000.00, for professional architectural services for the Department of Public Works Road and Drainage District operations building.

Background Information

The North Port Department of Public Works Road and Drainage operations building is the original building that was built in the 1990s. It served as a maintenance garage for the Department of Public Works and later was fitted for office space, restrooms, a small kitchen, and covered storage and work area. In 2022, Hurricane Ian caused significant damaged to the building deeming it uninhabitable, therefore staff were relocated to temporary office trailers. The amount of the damage exceeds the 50% rule governing repair to the building.

The City seeks to demolish the building, optimize parking in its place and build a pole barn type building for Road and Drainage District staff to use until Public Works Phase II building is constructed as planned within Capital Improvement Plan project (R20FAC).

On January 23, 2024, the City Commission approved Work Assignment (WA) 2023-09PW for the Professional Architectural Services continuing Contract 2023-16.03, in the amount of $196,190.00, between the City of North Port, Florida, and Plunkett Raysich Architects, LLP (PRA) to provide professional architectural services to design, permit, provide bidding assistance, and provide construction phase services, for the demolition...
