Approve the Subrecipient Agreement B-24 Between Sarasota County, Florida, and the City of North Port, Florida in the Amount of $60,000 for the Biscayne Sidewalk Construction and Authorize the City Manager or the Mayor, as Applicable Under the City Charter, to Execute all Funding Documents After Legal Review.

Background Information

The City of North Port has been awarded a Subrecipient Agreement with Sarasota County for the receipt and use of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for the Biscayne Sidewalk Construction Project (CIP R25NBS). The grant is contracted to reimburse the City up to $60,000 for construction costs.

The purpose of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds is to create and improve communities by providing housing, economic opportunities, and community services. CDBG funds are primarily used to benefit low- and moderate-income residents.

The City of North Port's Public Works Department requested funding for the construction of a sidewalk located along North Biscayne Drive from the current sidewalk end to Meroni Boulevard, consisting of approximately 800 linear feet of sidewalk and including drainage and curb installations, if necessary.

This is a reimbursable grant, meaning the City will spend first and then request reimbursement from the granting agency.

This contract has been reviewed for form and correctness by City Attorney.
