TITLE: Approve and Authorize the Mayor to Execute the Annual Certification Statement Between the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) and the City of North Port, Florida, on Behalf of the North Port Police Department Regarding Access to the Driver and Vehicle Information Database (DAVID).
Recommended Action
Option 1: Approve and authorize the Mayor to execute the Annual Certification Statement between the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) and the City of North Port, Florida, on behalf of the North Port Police Department regarding access to the Driver and Vehicle Information Database (DAVID).
City Commission Options
Option 1: Approve and authorize the Mayor to execute the Annual Certification Statement between the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) and the City of North Port, Florida, on behalf of the North Port Police Department regarding access to the Driver and Vehicle Information Database (DAVID).
Pros: The Police Department will be able to continue to use this resource to obtain driver license information.
Cons: The Police Department would be out of compliance with the Agreement and risk losing access to the DAVID system.
Option 2: Deny the approval and authorization of the Mayor to execute the Annual Certification Statement between the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) and the City of North Port, Florida, on behalf of the North Port Police Department regarding access to the Driver and Vehicle Information Database (DAVID).
Pros: There are no foreseeable pros to denying this certification statement.
Cons: If the certification is denied, the Police Department would be out of compliance with the Agreement and risk losing access to the DAVID system.
