Recommended Action
Approve the First Amendment to Agreement No. 2018-56 with Kimley-Horn & Associates, Inc. in the Amount of $56,040.00, for a Total Contract Cost of $394,690.00 for Water Transmission Main from Myakkahatchee Creek Water Treatment Plant to Ortiz Boulevard Project.
Background Information
In order to expand transmission capacity, the City established a multi-year project to increase the size of the water main from the Myakkahatchee Creek Water Treatment Plant (MCWTP) to Ortiz Boulevard. Construction was completed on a section of 16-inch water main along North Port Boulevard from the MCWTP to just south of the Cocoplum Waterway bridge crossing in fiscal year 17-18 and along Tamiami Trail from Eager Street to Grobe Street in fiscal year 18-19. Construction of the remaining portions of water main necessary to complete this multi-year project is anticipated to begin by December 2020, pending Commission approval. This phase includes a section of water main from the Cocoplum Waterway bridge crossing on North Port Boulevard to Eager Street and a section of water main along Tamiami Trail from Grobe Street to Ortiz Boulevard.
Request for Proposals (RFP) 2018-56 for professional engineering services for the MCWTP to Ortiz Water Main Project was advertised on June 11, 2018. Four proposals were received, evaluated and ranked, and Agreement No. 2018-56 was awarded to Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc on September 25, 2018.
