TITLE: Approve the Memorandum of Understanding for Public Safety Bomb Squad Response Between the City of Sarasota, Florida and the City of North Port, Florida for Public Safety Bomb Squad Response Services.
Recommended Action
Approve the Memorandum of Understanding for Public Safety Bomb Squad Response between the City of Sarasota, Florida and City of North Port, Florida for Public Safety Bomb Squad response services.
Background Information
The purpose of this Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is to permit the Sarasota Police Department (SPD) and the North Port Police Department (NPPD) to voluntarily provide mutual aid and assistance to one another to cope with emergency services as it relates to the provision of a Public Safety Bomb Squad.
The SPD Explosive Materials Unit is an accredited Public Safety Bomb Squad. It would like to add one or more NPPD enforcement officers to the SPD Unit and to extend its Public Safety Bomb Squad Response services to the citizens of the City of North Port. The MOU outlines the agreements and understandings between the Parties.
This MOU will be effective for an initial period of one year and will automatically renew for additional one-year periods. It can be terminated immediately with written notice.
The Memorandum of Understanding Public Safety Bomb Squad Response has been reviewed by the City Attorney and is legally correct as to form.
