Recommended Action

 

Appoint Gail Stevens as an Alternate I Member on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, to serve a two-year term from November 9, 2021, to November 9, 2023.

 

Background Information

 

Currently, there are two vacancies for an Alternate I and II on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board.  The vacancies were announced as required. The City Clerk has received one application from Gail Stevens for the Alternate I Member position and there have been no other applications submitted.  Ms. Stevens has been a resident of North Port for over 12 months and does not serve on any other Board or Committee.  However, Ms. Stevens served on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board from January 9, 2018, to July 17, 2020, and has met the requirement to wait one year before requesting a new appointment to the same Board.  Since tracking “unavailability to attend” began June 2019 Ms. Stevens only missed two (2) of the ten (10) scheduled meetings for 2019.  In addition, Ms. Stevens was present for the two (2) meetings held in 2020 prior to her resignation. Also, none of her absences had a negative effect on the quorum requirements to hold a meeting.  Ms. Stevens’ application has been submitted for review and consideration.
