Background Information

In October 2021, the City Commission approved a CIP project (BD22OP) for the Building Division online permitting software. Accela permit software is utilized by local building departments nationwide and is also heavily used within the southwest Florida region, so many local contractors and builders are already familiar with the product’s processes. This conversion will enable the Building Division to provide more efficient and effective services to the public, improve internal procedures, and better allow the division to comply with statutory requirements.

On April 25, 2023, the City Commission approved agenda item# 23-0586, Visionary Integration Professionals to implement the Accela online permitting software for the Development Services Department, Building Division.

The project is fully funded, with an anticipated go live date of December 9, 2024.

The following presentation is an overview of the Accela software program.
