Recommended Action

Approve Construction Contract No. 2023-04 - Renovation of Lift Stations 29, 45 and 73 Community Development Block Grant with Dejonge Excavating Contractors, Inc. in the amount of $389,448.00 with a Contingency of $58,417.00, for a total amount of $447,865.00.

Background Information

The renovation of Lift Stations 29, 45, and 73 projects are associated with a Community Development Block Grant that the City has received. This is a federally funded project under Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Subrecipient Agreement Number B-21-UC-12-0014.

> May 10, 2022: Subrecipient Agreement Between Sarasota County, Florida, and the City of North Port for Renovations of Lift Stations 29, 45, and 73 was fully executed
> July 22, 2022: RFB No. 2023-04 - Renovation of Lift Stations 29, 45, and 73 Community Development Block Grant was advertised.
> August 24, 2022: Five bids were received and opened.
> Staff reviewed the bids, and the lowest, responsive bidder, Dejonge Excavating Contractors, Inc. was determined to be qualified for the project.
> September 2022: Notice of Intent to Award RFB No. 2022-04 to Dejonge Excavating Contractors, Inc. was issued.

Based on the above, staff recommends the award of Contract No. 2023-04 to Dejonge Excavating Contractors, Inc.

The contract has been reviewed by the City Attorney and is approved as to form and correctness.
