TITLE: Approval of Amendment #1 to Contract No. 2018-35 with Recreational Design & Construction, Inc. in the amount of $498,146.45 for the construction of an additional parking lot in support of the North Port Aquatic Center.


Recommended Action

Approve Amendment #1 to Contract No. 2018-35 with Recreational Design & Construction Inc. (RDC) and the use of approved contingency in the amount of $498,146.45 for the construction of an additional parking lot in support of the North Port Aquatic Center. The revised all-inclusive total contract amount is $10,739,930.86.

Background Information

On April 10, 2018 Commission approved Amendment #5 to Agreement No. 2011-08 with Kimley Horn and Associates, Inc. (Kimley-Horn) design and construction management services for the additional parking required to support the North Port Aquatic Center. Kimley-Horn and staff have been working diligently to complete the design documents, obtain necessary permits, and meet all requirements of the City review processes. This parking lot will have a net increase of 62 additional parking spaces for the North Port Aquatic Center. In addition to the parking lot construction, the existing walking trail will be realigned to allow pedestrian access to the pavilion, along with a connection to the parking lot.

RDC's scope of work (for clarification, RDC refers to Amendment #1 as PCCO #12 on their support documents) includes demolition work, site earthwork, site drainage, stabilized subgrade, site asphalt paving, site concrete work, landscape & irrigation, electrical work, final cleaning, bonding and insurance. For reference this contract amendment will not impact the construction schedule for the North Port Aquatic Center facility.
