TITLE: Award of Agreement No. 2014-13 between the City of North Port and Florida Transportation Engineers, Inc. for the design and engineering services of multi-purpose Fields at Butler Park in the amount of $67,500 with an allocation of up to $6,750 for additional hourly services.


Recommended Action

Approval of Contract No. 2014-13 between the City of North Port and Florida Transportation Engineers, Inc. in the amount of $67,500 with an allocation of up to $6,750 for additional hourly services.

Background Information

In December 2013, RFP No. 2014-13 for Professional Design & Engineering Services for the multi-purpose fields at Butler Park was advertised. Six proposals were received on 12/16/13. The Selection Committee met and ranked the proposals creating a short list of the top three firms on 1/8/14. Final ranking was held 1/15/14 with negotiations for the top ranked firm on 2/6/14, and continued on 4/28/14. Commission discussed direction for the uses of Butler Park in March and provided direction that multi-purpose fields were the desire for the park and not a stadium complex similar to Atwater. Staff recommends Commission approves Agreement No. 2014-13 for Florida Transportation Engineers, Inc. to begin the design and engineering process for the multi-purpose fields at Butler Park. This contract for professional services includes land surveying, geotechnical investigations and reporting, engineering plans and construction documents, permitting, bid and construction services. Design estimated to be completed within five months of notice to proceed.
