TITLE: 2017 City of North Port State Legislative Priorities
Recommended Action
Approve 2017 City of North Port State Legislative Priorities.
Background Information
The City of North Port monitors State legislation throughout the year to identify funding and other opportunities to ensure that the needs of the community are met. The City Commission reviews and adopts legislative priorities in preparation for the State Legislative session.
Appropriate City staff had the opportunity to discuss with the City’s lobbyist any potential items of concern going into this year’s legislative session. At the October 21, 2016 workshop City Commission discussed the potential legislative priorities and directed staff to prepare the priorities for final consideration.
Attached is the draft report of recommended priorities for the Commission to consider. The Commission can add, delete, or modify the list as it deems appropriate.
The adopted priorities will be submitted to the Sarasota County Legislative Delegation after adoption by the Commission. It is staff’s understanding that the legislative delegation meeting will not occur prior to November 22, 2016.
