TITLE: Special Event Assistance Program Request for Trunk or Treat Halloween Event by Kiwanis
Recommended Action
Discussion and possible action regarding a Special Event Assistance Program Request.
Background Information
The Kiwanis Club of North Port is requesting $265.68 to pay for the police portion of our budget for the 3-hour free event on Oct. 31 from 3 to 6 p.m. along Estates Drive. The application asks for a budget for our event. The special event application/permit, parking and site plan have already been completed and are at the planning office. I am submitting a budget and asking if this application can be put on the next City Commission meeting which falls before this Halloween event. This event was planned after the city canceled its annual trick or treating event at City Hall. We believe this event falls within the special assistance fund as the money is needed to pay police to be there. This is a contactless event to offer a safe alternative for local children who may get enough candy like they would have at city hall, hopefully so that they don't have to go door to door this year when some don't want to interact with children. Hopefully next year at this time, the city can have its wonderful event again.
Thank you for your consideration.
